FEHÉR Vilmos
1978, Nagykanizsa, bone, horn and wood carver
The primary goal of his work as an artist and researcher is to keep alive the special techniques of the art of Transdanubian shepherds, such as seal-waxing and incising, and to learn about the meanings, applications and technical background of the motifs that appear in the art of the shepherds, while in tegrating them into a system and presenting them. He aspires to bring the legacy of the unique spirit of the shepherds’ life of the 19th and 20th centuries back into the contemporary world of art. He won the Hungarian Handicraft Masterpiece recognition in 2020 and 2021, and the title of Folk Applied Artist and the Kapoli Prize of the national carving competition in 2022.
