HORVÁTH István
1941, Debrecen – 2018, Debrecen, photographer, fine artist
From 1960 to 1973 he worked as a photographer at the Institute for Nuclear Research in Debrecen, and as a freelance artist from 1972. He was a member and organiser of the exhibition titled Workshop 1967. He founded the Studio of Young Photographers in Debrecen in 1975. His visual art oeuvre includes photography, painting, collage and montage, as well as sculpture and short flms. His painting is characterised by cave and rock drawings and a new inter pretation of ancient cultures. Among others, he used the lead-inlay technique, well known from the art of shepherds, in his sculptural works.
