FÖLDI Péter

He graduated in mathematics and drawing from the Eger Teacher Training College in 1972. His first mentor was Ödön Somoskői, and his masters at the college were János Blaskó, János Seres and Ernő Nagy. Afer graduating from college he returned to his native village as a drawing teacher, and has lived and been active as an artist there ever since. Between 1995 and 2009 he was an associate professor at the Károly Eszterházy Teacher Training College and then its professor. He has been a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 1994. In addition to his fine art oeuvre, he is also engaged in signifcant theoretical work. His most important recognitions are the Munkácsy Award (1987), the Pro Arte Hungarica Award (1993), the Meritorious Artist of Hungary title (2001), the Kossuth Prize (2007), the Prima Primissima Prize (2011) and the Artist of the Nation title (2020).
