FARKAS Gergely
1982, Budapest, felter
“I see traditional felts as our ancestors’ faith, view of nature and reverence for life moulded into objects. Theyare equally representative of individual and communal work, as well as the interconnectedness of different customs. Theyprovide a frm point of reference in which the shepherding, nomadic way of life and the Hungarian peasant culture are equally present, harking back to a world where every word, object and sign conveyed an important message. When producing my art, I like to turn to the folk art and traditional material world of Somogy.” Most important recognitions: Pomegranate Award (2015), Silver Diploma of the National Folk Art Exhibition (2015), Young Master of Folk Art (2017).
