HÉJJA János
1976, Orosháza, master cello maker
After his childhood studies at the music school he graduated as a string instrument maker from the Instrument-making School of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in 1996. He founded his own workshop, where he specialises in cello making and repair, in 1999. Following the traditions and style of world-famous Hungarian instrument making of the 19th and 20th centuries, he makes his modern and Baroque cellos, which are now found in most Hungarian orchestras and are used in many countries in Europe. His instruments are mainly replicas of antique instruments by famous makers of old. He regularly appears at foreign exhibitions and festivals with his cellos. He has been a scholarship-holder of the Hungarian Academy of Arts since 2021.
