MAKOLDI Sándor Gyula
1973, Miskolc, sculptor
He graduated in sculpture in 1997 from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, where his master was György Segesdi. He was a teacher at the secondary schools of art in Nyíregyháza and Miskolc. He is currently a teacher at the Secondary School of Visual Arts in Nyíregyháza. In addition, he participates in exhibitions and receives commissions for open-air sculptures. According to his ars poetica, sculpture is a form of prophesy and a tool: “It is like our language – a visual language that can be spoken. It is a tool with which profound messages can be expressed and deciphered. Tis language is born with each of us as we all simultaneously express ourselves in images and words at the dawn of our lives; however, there are ages from which no recorded words have survived, only visual messages. By decoding the messages of these objects, we are able to learn about the world and its primal driving forces.”
