He completed his secondary school studies in Kaposvár in 1956 and graduated in decorative sculpture in 1961 from the Academy of Applied Arts, where his master was Miklós Borsos. In the early years of his career he went on study trips to Egypt, Greece and Central Asia. He had numerous solo exhibitions both in Hungary and abroad. His sculptures are mainly made of bronze, wrought iron and wood. Theyare distinguished by the sculptor’s aspiration to gradual abstraction of forms and the redefnition of space. Later in his career he turned to folk art and folk culture, and also made adaptations of children’s drawings and older children’s toys. His best-known work is the Sun Wheel in Europa Park in Kaposvár. He won the Rippl-Rónai Award in 1965 and the Mihály Munkácsy Award in 1982. He received the Golden Diploma of the Hungarian Academy of Arts in 2000.
