1952, Berhida, bone-, horn- and woodcarver
He has pursued woodcarving since childhood, after which he learned carving techniques from the elderly István Nagy and his son. He was awarded the title of Young Master of Folk Art in 1983, and the title of Applied Folk Artist in 1995. He cultivates all manner of carving techniques. His works carved in wood, bone and horn draw on the most beautiful traditions of the art of Trans-danubian shepherds. He also makes reliefs and small sculptures of a sacred nature. He received the recognition of the Knight of Hungarian Culture in 2012 and the title of the Master of Folk Art in 2015. He was awarded the An tal Kapoli Sr Itinerant Award in 2019 and his shepherds’ woodcarvings were added to the cultural heritage of the Veszprém County Depository of Value in the same year. He has been a member of the public body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2018.
