KASZA Miklós

He has been engaged in carving since childhood and at first he made sticks and toys. He joined the woodcarving workshop of Győr in 1978, where he learned a wide away of carving techniques. Afer this he honed his knowledge teaching himself. He was greatly influenced by the art of the woodcarving shepherds Antal Kapoli Sr. and József Hodó. He has been carving horns, bones and deer antlers since 1982 but he also ofen goes back to stick carving. He mainly draws the ornaments from the motifs of the shepherds’ carvings of Somogy County and then adapts them in his own, individual way. He has participated in numerous exhibitions both in Hungary and abroad. He was awarded the title of Young Master of Folk Art in 1983, the title of Folk Applied Artist in 1988 and the title of Master of Folk Art in 2006. He received the Master Award at the Antal Kapoli Sr. competition in 2022.
