SZATYOR Győző
1947, Bogdása, applied folk artist
He graduated in geography and drawing from the Teacher Training College of Pécs in 1972. He was awarded the title of the Young Master of Folk Art in 1977 and the title of the Master of Folk Art in 2003. He has been the art organiser of the Pécs Graphic Workshop since 1983. He was the mayor of Bogdása between 2002 and 2010. His native land provides his art with a source of inspiration and constant renewal. He believes that his love of and desire to learn about folk art and fine art oblige him to combine the preservation of traditions and today’s reality in his works. He was awarded the Károly Kós Prize in 1994, the Knight’s Cross of the Order of the Lion of the Republic of Finland in 2012 and the Art Prize of Baranya County in 2021. He is member of the Academy of Hungarian Arts.
