GYŐRI László
1944, Debrecen, sculptor
He graduated from an architectural technical school and first worked as a building contractor and then as a designer. He has been a member of Association of Hungarian Creative Artists since 1981, as well as a member of the Association of Hungarian Fine and Applied Artists and the Hungarian Sculptural Society since 1992. He uses plastic, stone, iron, chrome, bronze and wood in his works. Initially he produced constructivist sculptures and after becoming more familiar with organic Hungarian culture he began to mould his ideas into sculptures using his special formal idiom and various materials. He has won numerous professional awards and creative scholarships. He was awarded the Csokonai Prize by the City of Debrecen in 2014.
