1994, Ajka, folk musician, folk music teacher, instrument maker
He lives in the small village of Doba, in the northern foothills of Somló Hill. As a musician and music teacher, the spiritual and material heritage of his direct and wider environs, the Somló region and the Bakony, play a special role in his work, especially in regard to the rich shepherd culture that flourished here, which included folk songs, handcrafed objects and instruments of the shepherds. A key concept in his approach is to make the most of the treasures passed down and to continue this as fully as possible, from the renewed use of motifs to be discovered in attics and museums as well as melodies to be found in collections to the pruning of the village’s old fruit trees.
