Attila vAlbert Jr. was born in 1975 in Szentgotthárd. His family has been working in pottery for generations. His master was his father, but his grandfather also made his living from pottery. His work is based on the formal traditions of the last 700 years, and he believes it is important to preserve the ancient shapes, to add new content and to create vessels that meet the changing needs of the present. Accordingly, he also works on traditional low fires (below 1000 ˚C), but he prefers to do his art on high fires (above 1200 ˚C). Since 2015, he has been a regular participant in professional festivals in Spain, France and Italy, where he tries to extend his own professional skills. In recent years, he has also been focusing on knowledge transfer. Within the framework of the National Talent Programme, he has been running pottery camps in collaboration with the Hungarian Heritage House since 2015, and since September 2021 he has also been running a permanent school workshop. He is the chairman of the Association of Őrség Potters. He has been involved in the organisation of the Potters’ Days since 2005. As the mayor of Magyarszombatfa, he has been in charge of the preparation and organisation of the festival since 2011. In 2014, he participated as a submitter in the process of the inclusion of the “Pottery of Magyarszombatfa” in the National Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2014. Since December 2021, he has been the chairman of the Professional Committee for Pottery of the Association of Hungarian Folk Artists. In addition to numerous professional awards, he has won first prize three times (2009, 2017, 2020) and in 2011 he won the Grand Prize at the National Pottery Competition. In 2015, National Park Product Award winner Albert also received the ‘In Honour of the Masters’ award. He was awarded the Gold Diploma at the ‘Living Folk Art’ National Folk Art Exhibition in 2010 and 2021 for his creative work.
